Authorities close El Harrach market

Local authorities Friday closed D15 clothes and cars market in El Harrach in Algiers. This raised anger among traders who say it was a not expected. They plan to submit a report to Algiers ‘prefect to establish another market for them.

Unusually, the place where the market used to exist was very calm on Friday. It has been a place for selling cars since the French colonization.  

The decision to close the market was supposed to be applied on July 24th. Yet, it was postponed due to protests. 

Traders’ representatives said he is sorry for this “surprising” decision which will deprive a thousand of shop keepers from work.
