Baccalaureate Correction Centers Virtually Devoid of Teachers
The “model” correction of the proofs of the candidates who sat for the 2015 session of the Baccalaureate exam is slated to kick off on Monday across 71 Correction Centers throughout the national territory but with a gross deficit recorded in the number of teachers on duty.
The absence of the teacher correctors, reached an average deficit of as much as 50 teachers in each exam correction center, prompting the heads of correction centers to swiftly hire professors as “substitutes” to curb the huge deficit on the one hand, and on the other hand, it was disclosed that “deceased” or “excluded” teachers were surprisingly included in the list of those called upon to correct the BAC exam papers.
To make the situation even worse, “Echorouk” has learnt from well-informed sources that only one teacher was appointed to carry out the correction task in three correction centers in three different locations.
The same sources added that the shortage of teachers especially the low figure recorded in the province of Algiers has prompted the heads of exam centers to search for “magic” solutions in overtime, to remedy the situation on all accounts.
The latter called in haphazardly “substitute” teachers as the rest of the calls were directed to other teachers to cover the shortfall.
However, the majority of these remedial teachers refused to respond to their requests arguing that the correction process in the BAC exam is very “tiresome” versus “meager financial spin-offs”, making such an arduous task “quite discouraging”, as they put it.
