Interior Minister, Noureddine Badoui, is expected to visit the Italian capital Rome before the end of this month to meet his Italian counterpart Marco Minniti, to sign an update on the security, counter terrorism and illegal immigration agreement that appears to be in need of amendments, as hundreds of Algerian illegal immigrants flow from Annaba and its suburbs on Sardinia .

According to a statement that was issued by the Italian Interior Ministry, that was published on its official website and was checked out by Echorouk, the Minister Minniti had a telephone conversation with his Algerian counterpart, and focused on the migration, and they agreed to develop a common strategy through periodic exchange of information between the authorities of the two countries.

The statement pointed out that the influx of migrants has been increasing in recent weeks, and the two officials agreed on the need to develop a multidimensional approach to the issue of migration, leading to the adoption of a joint strategy between the two countries.

During the phone call, Italian Minister Marco Menniti called on Minister Noureddine Badouii to visit Rome at the end of this month in order to sign an update on the security cooperation agreement, especially in its anti-terrorism, criminal activities and illegal immigration part.

According to figures from local officials in the island of Sardinia, this year noticed the arrival of 1400 Algerian illegal immigrants, on small boats, and demanded the adoption of a policy of immediate deportation of Algerians upon arrival.

Sardinian political figures and parties called upon the authorities of their country to find a solution to the flow of Algerian illegal immigrants on the island, and to address them in various ways and means, including calling for raising the voice against Algeria until this phenomenon stops.

Number of illegal immigrants who arrived in the island last year from the coast of Annaba, and Taref, reached about 1200 illegal immigrants, according to previous statements of the Ambassador of Italy to Algeria in a previous interview with Echorouk.
