At a time when Algerians are eagerly awaiting for the lifting of the low-tourism grant, which is equivalent to 15,000 ZDZ of hard currency for years, the Bank of Algeria came out to citizens to assuring them of providing currencies across all bank agencies in the wake of the talk about a shortage of currencies because of the many requests of citizens on this grant, as the Algerian who is wishing to travel to other countries, does not exceed 130 Euros, with the value of the current exchange rate, an amount that is not even enough to pay for a meal in a European country, in addition to accommodation and travel costs in the tourist areas as well, which forced people who are wishing to travel, to resort to the black market to win the financial value which they need.

According to the Bank of Algeria, the currencies are available in the banking agencies to passengers who ask for the travel grant, as this shortage is attributed to the foreign exchange in banks that is only due to the strong rise in the demand that is usually expressed during the holidays.

Algeria Bank confirmed that the situation is heading towards lifting the pressure on the banking agencies.

It scored a significant flow of travelers on bank agencies, to ask for the tourist grant that is worth 15,000 ZDZ per year, which would create a strong pressure at the level of the point of selling.

APS news agency quoted an official from the Bank of Algeria that “There is no problem about the lack of currency in the banks, as it is available and the central bank meets the banks’ needs in terms of supply of currency in a programmed and orderly manner”, highlighting the growing pressure on the banking agencies in the recent days, as it also came as a result of the status of “the influx of grant applicants in large numbers at the same time in front of the selling points.”
