Benflis criticizes Bouteflika: “I am the candidate and not my brother”
Independent candidate Ali Benflis critisized Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s way of running his three mandates, saying the current situation pushes people to wonder about reasons behind the “fourth term” and the country is about to undergo a disaster.
Speaking about his commitments about the constitutional amendment, Benflis said his promised constitution will extend Parliament and deputy’s prerogatives and reform justice.
“The Constitutional amendment may take a year and a half. Everyone will be involved in that. I will not ask my friends only,” he said in a popular rally in Blida.
“I am the candidate and not my brother neither my brothers in law. My children accomplish their missions away,” he added.
He also said he is surprised about Bouteflika’s candidacy for a fourth term in spite of his “catastrophic performance.”
Benflis committed to reform health and education sectors.
