Benflis to army: follow your conscience in voting

Independent candidate Ali Benflis hailed the National Popular Army for its heroic acts to preserve Algeria’s safety. “Oh, Algeria’s protectors! Ahead of decisive elections, you occupy an important place in my program. We will work on boosting military industry sectors,” he said in the province of Tamenrasset (south of Algeria).

Speaking about clashes in the province of Bejaia following the visit of Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s electoral campaign director, Benflis said he was sorry and denied any involvement in an violence acts against journalists.

“Authorities did not provide sufficient means to create calm and safe atmosphere for the electoral campaign,” he told reporters.

“I am sorry that the electoral campaign is going on perturbed atmosphere. I have to say that nothing was provided to ensure safe conditions,” he added.

In his rally, Benflis said he is ready to make change if people want it.
