Benghebrit: “Ten Thousand New Teachers Will Be Hired In The Course Of 2017”
National Education Minister Nouria Benghebrit announced Monday in Algiers the opening in 2017 of more than 10,000 positions for the external recruitment of teachers in the course of the year 2017, stressing that the relevant contest was scheduled for next June 29th 2017.
In a statement to the press on the sidelines of a national meeting with education inspectors, Ms Benghebrit affirmed the opening of “more than 10,000 posts for the external recruitment of teachers”, expressing the availability of her sector to expand the specialties for foreign languages, in particular Russian, Turkish and Chinese in the competition, at the request of the pupils and with regard to the number of university graduates available in these specialties.
The first step will be to “reinvigorate the digital recruitment platform applied last year in order to exploit the stand-by lists”, she added.
The platform will be open during the period from 7 to 17 April (ie 10 days) for recruitment at the provincial level, before the use of the national list in recruitment until 27 April, the minister further said.
The National Education Ministry, Ms. Benghebrit noted, has worked out a “busy schedule” for professional promotional examinations for senior professors and supervising professors, scheduled for 31 May, before the professional examinations scheduled between next July and August, mainly concerning administrative posts, in anticipation of the next school year.
The education Minister also denied some media reports on the change in the holiday schedule, saying that “this is completely groundless information”.
“There is no alteration in the vacation schedule announced previously,” the Minister stated, recalling that “the return to school will take place on September 4th for students, August 30th for teachers, August 28th for the administrative staff and 20th August for the central administration”.
