Benhabyles: “Gangs lured 5,000 female African immigrants into prostitution in Algeria”
The head of the Algerian Red Crescent, Ms Saida Benhabyles, has revealed statistics pertaining to African nationals, who have been exploited by some venal and lawless gangs luring them into prostitution and begging, out of more than 11 thousand women and youngsters, stressing up to five thousand African women immigrants were compelled to engage into blameworthy prostitution practices during their stay in Algerian territory.
She pointed out that Algeria had deported up to now 18 thousand African immigrants back to their respective countries of origin, adding that the Algerian Red Crescent has been allocated a considerable sum of money, estimated at 70 billion centimes (DA), to regulate this massive repatriation process.
She indicated to this effect that the repatriation operations went on smoothly in due respect for these African immigrants’ basic human rights and their dignity.
Ms Benhabyles further hit out against those “nefarious circles” based overseas which desperately sought to exploit the issue of African migrants for political purposes in order to destabilize the country and to tarnish the brand- image of Algeria in front of the world community but to no avail, as she put it.
