Biometric passport takes Algerian consulates abroad to justice
Queues of Algerian immigrants or queues of shame as some called them, escalated in front of various consulates abroad to have the Biometric passport with the approach of November 24, when travelling will only be possible with the Biometric passport, as the various consulates noticed an unprecedented number of community, what caused unprecedented queues and chaos, especially with the announcement of the Algerian authorities preventing the entry of Algerian expatriates who have foreign passports through providing the identity card and require the possession of a visa.
A militant activist in Marseille, Youcef Bouaboune, told Echorouk that the queues, chaos, noise and the closure of the road is still the characteristic that marks the Algerian consulate in this city, explaining that the queues begin at 4:00 am to until midnight, in a scene that often inadvertently hurt the Algerian nationals when trying to obtain the passport, or requesting the documents and administrative procedures, although the consular services extended the working hours and reached 10:00 pm sometimes, showing good faith in it, but the process is generally characterized by poor organization, in which all immigrants are also involved.
Associative activist asserted the need to continue to work with the facilities for the entry of Algerians, carrying foreign passport only to provide national identity card, without the imposition of a visa until the end of 2016, in order to fill complaints against the consular services because of the chaos and inconvenience.
“State of disorganization, chaos, noise, inconvenience and the closure of the road in the vicinity of Algeria Consulate in Marseilles forced the Governor of the city to fill an effective lawsuit against the consulate.
Interior Ministry: “3 days to issue passports of expatriates”
Manager of modernizing documents and archives at the Interior Ministry, Abderazzak Heni, stressed that his services took new measures in order to make the passports of immigrants a priority, adding that the Algerian passports’ expatriates are ready within 3 days and not more from the date of receiving it by the services of the State Department and until they return to them.
