Black report on German company in Algeria

Specialised authorities submitted a detailed report to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika about the Algerian German partnership in industrial gas and sensitive substances manufacturing.

  • German company Land which bought more than 60 percent of the national company of industrial gas at 27 million euros did not invest in Algeria since it entered it in June 2007, said the same report.
  • “It did not respect the specifications in terms of equipment and manufacturing. After 20 months, the company conducted suspicious transactions to embezzle money,” it added.
  • “The German company preferred the Tunisian market to sell its products including medical oxygen manufactured in Algeria.”
  • According to sources at the Algerian German company Land Gas Algeria, oxygen containers loaded with more than 32,000 litres are sent to Tunisia from eastern Algeria. The company imports the oxygen from France to Algeria at high price.
  • Reliable sources say Germans embezzle money via some suspicious transactions such as containers maintenance in Europe while it is supposed to be done in Algeria.
  • Previously, unions met with officials at the Algerian industry ministry and informed them about the situation of the national company after its privatisation.
  • The German partner turned Algeria into the largest importer of gas not conform to standards while products manufactured in Algeria “are smuggled abroad.”
