Body guards for Algeria presidential elections candidates
Algerian interior ministry has mobilised more than 40 policemen to ensure the safety of the six candidates for the next presidential elections. Each candidate will have eight policemen for protection while the president will be protected by the presidential guards until the announcement of the elections result, according to officials at the ministry.

“The security guards will keep watch on the movements of all the candidates until the end of the electoral campaign and the announcement of the elected president,” the same sources told Echorouk.
-
They will be divided into two groups. One group will include bodyguards to ensure the safety of the candidates. The second group will remain in contact with them via walkie-talkie.
-
In previous elections, the number of security guards did not exceed five for each candidate depending on function and position.

Observers believe that authorities raised the number of security guards to foil any potential terror act by the so-called the Salafist group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC).
