The Moudjahid of War Veteran of the November Revolution, Lakhdar Bouregâa, has clearly distanced himself from the list of the 14 claimants who called earlier this week for the ousting of Amar Saadani as Secretary General of the National Liberation Front party (FLN), considering what happened as an “unintentional mistake”.

He said in an interview with “Echorouk” that some ill-advised quarters wanted to exploit his name and sully his reputation in what he described as an immoral move, and emphasized in this regard, that he has himself no personal problem with the current FLN party leader, adding that he did not want to interfere in any party’s internal affairs as a matter of principle.

Mr Lakhdar Bouregâa said that he had been flabbergasted to find in a local newspaper his picture alongside a group of “14 mudjahidine” who appealed to the President of the Republic, Mr Abdellaziz Bouteflifa, to remove Amar Saidani from the helm of the FLN party as well as his inner circle because the latter have been serving only their vested interests in total contradiction of the party’s statutes and principles, as they put it.

In this connection, our interlocutor underlined that he didn’t want to get involved in damaging conflicts with anyone or any party but deplored that the intrusion of money at will has seriously “polluted” the national political life even at the official level, while stressing that he intends to convey an exhaustive letter to this effect to the head of state apprising him of this deleterious situation now besetting the country.
