Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika Monday said political parties and civil society will be part of the constitutional revision and called on people to support the national army to protect the country from potential exterior threats.

“I have a firm will to enhance democracy by calling in political parties, the most eminent civil society organizations and national personalities to participate in this very important action,” said Bouteflika in his inauguration speech.

Tired and ill, the president could not read all the speech. He made mistakes in pronunciation. He had to stop reading and thanked audience for attending the ceremony.

He committed to continue the National Reconciliation project, saying: “Algeria still opens door to its misled sons. I renew my call to them to come back home. The National Reconciliation will be among my priorities. Terrorism will be firmly fought. People have to rely on the army and its security departments to protect the country from any criminal attempts.”
