Bouteflika to visit France next June

French experts prepared, a few weeks ago, the files to be discussed during the second visit of the Algerian Presdient Abdelaziz Bouteflika to France next June.

  • Diplomatic sources revealed that the French experts avoid speaking about France’s apology to Algeria, focusing their efforts on the large economic deals between France and Algeria which decided to launch the five year program which extends to 2014 worth $150b, and which includes launching of a second highway project in the high plateaux and the completion of 5000 km of railway lines that extend to the deep southern areas, as well as the electrification of the railways lines, new projects of tramway in many localities in coordination with the French group Alstom.
  • It is also expected that the president Bouteflika would discuss the establishment of car companies in Algeria, a project that took part in the Algerian government’s program.
  • This is the second visit by Bouteflika to France after the first invitation by the former French president Jack Chirac from the 14th to the 19th June 2000; however, the future visit will differ because of the global financial crisis that affected the western countries that are obliged to search for new economic deals with the third word countries.
  • Paris is also expected to discuss, according to observers, new proposals, including selling some military equipments to Algeria such as frigates in order to provide the Algerian Navy, for the first time, with non soviet military equipments.
