Bouterfa: I will bring Algeria’s gas share in Europe
Algeria’s newly-appointed energy minister Nourredine Bouterfa said all the national industrial and human energies should be mobilized to boost this sector. “My new policy will be based on the development of renewable energies including solar energy. They are meant to secure the post-oil phase,” he told Echorouk on Monday.
The minister promised to bring Algeria’s gas share back to the European market and raise oil incomes.
“The development of the energy sector is a big responsibility for executives. My ministry will spare no effort to provide people with electricity, natural gas and fuel,” he said.
Speaking about the sector strategy, Bouterfa said it will focus on the development of renewable energies including solar energy. “The program of renewable energies development will enable to produce 22,000 megawatts of electricity starting from solar energy until 2030. Algeria will invest about $60 billion in renewable energies sector for 14 years.”
Speaking about energy efficiency, Bouterfa said the planned objectives will save 93 million tons during 15 years. Algeria will continue its strategy meant to raise production capacity and meet local demand.
