Boycotters: 15 percent voter turnout
The Coordination of Parties and Personalities Boycotting the Presidential Elections said it expects that turnout in Thursday’s elections would not exceed 15 percent.
Parties and personalities who boycotted the elections mobilized its provincial offices to track boycotting rate.
“Boycotting parties should prove its choice credibility by getting fraud evidences,” deputy Nacer Hamdadouche said.
“The Coordination gave its members total freedom to launch individual initiatives as they are all part of the same objectives,” he added.
Lakhdar Benkhelaf, a senior member at the Justice and Development Front said the boycotting campaign results will be assessed on Thursday because turnout will be very small as it would not go beyond 12 percent.
“The Coordination’s chiefs received positive reports about boycott and people’s dissatisfaction over attempts to raise internal conflicts,” he added.
Sofiane Sakhri, a leading member at Jil Djadid Party said follow up teams will be mobilized in provinces to track the electoral process and check wrongdoings.
“Turnout will be no more than 15 percent. An important number of voters will take revenge by choosing Benflis,” he added.
