Businessman on the run for tax evasion

A foreign economic operator fled the country leaving behind him an unpaid tax bill amounting to 1.74 million Euros forcing the tax department to seize his company that employs 360 people and put it up for auction.

• The investor has forwarded the relevant authorities six cheques for a partial payment of his debts, but they discovered that they were dud ones jeopardizing the future of hundreds of workers and their families.

• “Echorouk” met the protesters who called for compensations for the period 2006-2007 when the company was seized by the tax authorities and the manager was remanded in custody.

• They evaluated the company at 3.45 million Euros and asked for indemnifications estimated at 20 thousand Euros for each employee.
