Clashes between fans and security forces left havoc and injuries

Skirmishes that broke out yesterday in the province of Blida ( 70 Kms of Algiers) between fans and security forces caused several injuries from both sides, reliable sources revealed.

  • Scores of angry youngsters were evacuated to hospital while elements of the security forces, who suffered from injuries after being bombarded with stones by the “Holigans”, before the arrival of the riot-police, it said.

  • Witnesses on spot revealed that several cars that were parked nearby the stadium were shattered and a police one was completely destroyed.

  • The head of the Algerian Football Association, Mohammed Raouraoua moved immediately after the tragic events to the province of Blida and had a meeting with the manager of the stadium as well as the head of the security, in a move to circumvent the situation and sort out the appropriate safety procedures pending the match between Algeria and Zambia.
