Clashes between police and MAK’s elements in Tizi Ouzou
Security forces arrested at around 10 a.m. elements of the MAK movement in the town of Labraa Natherathen eastern the province of Tizi Ouzou. Nine policemen were wounded while the elements tried to raise their flag next to the old headquarters of the National Gendarmerie.
Clashes took place in Labraa Natherathen between the police and elements of the MAK movement as they tried to raise the flag of their “State.” This comes on the 15th anniversary of the June 14th, 2001 March.
The MAK’s elements chose the place in front of the old headquarters of the National Gendarmerie to shout their anti-regime slogans and calling for the independence of Kabylia. Security forces intervened and foiled their attempt following clashes. Nine policemen were wounded and taken to hospital while 10 elements of the MAK were taken to the police station for investigation. They were released later.
Residents in Tizi Ouzou and Bejaia are mobilized to chase the callers for independence.
