Coast Guard Services Foil Illegal Immigration Attempt By 25 Youth Eastern Algeria

Coast Guards unit in Annaba, eastern Algeria, which belongs to the eastern waterfront of the fifth military region, foiled two journeys of illegal immigrants, on Friday, which were carried out by two groups of 25 youth, who boarded traditional boats from Sidi Salem beach, in Annaba, and Batah in Taref (eastern Algeria).

Preliminary information, that was obtained by Echorouk, confirmed that these young people decided to launch the adventure of illegal immigration on board of boats of death, towards the island of Sardinia, Italy, as the process of arresting the first boat, which includes a group of 12 illegal immigrant, who came out of Al Battah beach, and whose ages range between 19 and 48, and mostly descended from different neighborhoods of the national territory, along the lines with Annaba, Souk Ahras, Khenchela, Algiers, Tissemsilet and Ain Temouchent, who launched their journey on Wednesday night to Thursday, while the naval units were on a routine patrol, which drew their attention to the suspicious boats, and they intercepted them within 2 am, at 4 nautical miles north-west of Ras Al Hamra.
Illegal immigrants drove off around 11 pm on Wednesday from Al Battah beach in Taref (eastern Algeria), and caught them at a distance of 4 miles north of El Kala (eastern Algeria), while the second boat, was arrested at a distance of 8 miles northeast of Ras Al Hamra was within 3 am on Friday.
It is comprised of 13 youth, who set out from Sidi Salem beach and were arrested at 50 kilometers from the shore.
Coast Guard services arrested them and retrieved the two boats, which were equipped with 40 horsepower engines, with the discovery of foodstuffs on the first retrieved boat, and the illegal immigrants were subjected to medical examination by the Civil Protection Doctor, where judicial files were filed against them, and then they were referred to the General Attorney of Al Kala Court in order to resolve their case.
The arrested in Annaba will be referred to the judicial authorities tomorrow after they were released, and their identity documents were seized, waiting for their referral.
