Committee of elders meets in Algeria to prevent a war in the Sahel
The meeting held the day before yesterday in the province of Adrar, southern Algeria, which brought together dignitaries from various tribes including Touat Al Kentine, Ahagar, Adjzar, Chaabna, Lemnhar, Brabiche and Afougass, wound up with the setting up of a committee of elders for national reconciliation in order to pacify the conflicting tribes in Northern Mali.
The main goal of the meeting is to find the best means reach a consensus between all the parties and lift up the impediments that hamper the reconciliation process in the tormented West African country.
The dignitaries have agreed upon a road map that will serve as the basis for the future negotiations between the conflicting parties and end a circle of violence as well as drying up all sources of finance to this crisis.
The elders that represent the provinces of Tamanaraset, Illizi and Adrar have expressed their full support for the laudable initiative led by Cheikh Moulay Etouhami Guitaoui, a member I in the Supreme Islamic Council.
The meeting was also attended by former ring terrorist leaders from the regions of Mneaa, Ourgla and Tamanrasset that put an end to their terrorist activities within the framework of the national reconciliation process.
