Constructions in Algeria do not meet safety requirements in terms of geological studies; experts say
The existing buildings, private houses and governmental institutions that have been erected in Algeria do not meet the anti-seismic criteria because of the absence of sound geological studies, experts and architects revealed.

They gave concrete example about famous official buildings and companies including the Algerian oil Company headquarters ( Soantarch) and other luxurious houses located in the trendy compound of “Val- D’Hydra” , built on a dangerous zone.

In a declaration to “Echorouk” , the general manager of the Geological studies and Anti Seismic Buildings Office Rabah Djaba he indicated that five constructions only meet the requirements in Algeria because the surface on which they were erected has been geologically studied. He enumerated the Agriculture Institute here in Algiers, the government palace and some old buildings in the capital city.

He was outraged to the fact that his office was not asked to carry out such studies, while another study released by the housing department of Algiers was limited to the seismological aspect only.
