The University of Health Sciences “Moudjahid Dr. Youcef Khatib” signed a cooperation and partnership agreement with the American “Johns Hopkins” University, aiming to enhance scientific cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday in Algiers by the Director of the University of Health Sciences, Mr. Merzak Gharnout, and the authorized representative of “Johns Hopkins” University, Mr. Todd Shepherd.

On this occasion, Mr. Gharnout considered the signing of this agreement a “distinguished scientific event and a strategic step that reflects the common will of both parties to enhance the exchange of expertise, develop scientific research, and elevate academic medical training for students, professors, and researchers to higher levels.”

He further added that this agreement aims to encourage joint research projects and knowledge transfer, considering that investing in human capital is “the optimal way” to achieve sustainable development.

For his part, Mr. Shepherd praised this first-of-its-kind agreement with an Algerian university, which, as he said, “is an important step with great symbolic and scientific value,” expressing his hope that the areas of cooperation will expand to include other Algerian universities in humanities and social sciences, as well as exact sciences.
