The spokesman for the Algerian community residing in Barcelona, Spain, has appealed to the Algerian Foreign Affairs Ministry to facilitate the process of transferring the bodies of deceased Algerians back home in an easy way, notably for non-carriers of identity, rather than see them linger for nearly half a year in the local morgues under the pretext of them being non-identifiable, or see them being transferred to some Spanish universities were post-mortem experiments are conducted on them.

The head of the Algeria activist Association based in Barcelona, Abed Hosni, said in a declaration to “Echorouk” that the Spanish authorities set stringent conditions with respect to the repatriation back to Algeria of the bodies of deceased  Algerians especially those undocumented ones, with on prime focus the illegal immigrants.

Therefore, the bodies of deceased Algerians remain dormant for months and up to half a year in Spanish Morgues, due to the absence of documents testifying to their identity as they are mostly illegal immigrants, he underlined.

The spokesman drove the point home when he stated bluntly that these bodies end up unfortunately as “experimental mice”, so to speak, in the scientific laboratories of various universities, according to well-informed sources close to the file.

The spokesman thus launched an urgent appeal to the Algerian foreign affairs ministry to intervene and to address this vexed issue as early as possible in order to halt these unacceptable practices on the Spanish side.
