Counterfeiters appeared in court in Algeria

A court in Oran (west of Algiers) dealt on Sunday with the biggest counterfeiting case in western Algeria after security forces had dismantled a network which constituted an informal government inside the State.

  • The network counterfeited all the official documents at various ministries, public institutions and administrations in western Algeria including the Algerian consulate in France, French companies, artists’ cards and success certificates.
  • The trial of five suspects including a woman revealed facts about a counterfeiting activity at all the official institutions even those representing power and sovereignty such us justice sector and security forces.
  • Three suspects were sentenced to 10 years prison for counterfeiting official seals, stamps and administrative documents. Another man and a woman were sentenced to one year prison.
