Counterterrorism: Algeria and Bosnia Seal Extradition Agreement
Algeria and Bosnia Herzegovina have signed three bilateral judicial agreements in the domain of justice, civil and commerce, in addition to an agreement on the extradition of wanted people, as well as a protocol in the domain of institutional cooperation.
On the sidelines of the sealing ceremony, Director of Judicial Affairs at the Ministry of Justice, Mohamed Amara stated that the aforementioned agreements “fall in the frame of international cooperation Algeria has been engaged in, in accordance with international treaties it adhered and which require countries to sign bilateral agreements, including in the domain of countering organized crime and terrorism.”
The judicial agreement signed between Algeria and Bosnia would attribute an official character to research and investigation in the domain of the fight of organized crime, in a way that would permit the two countries to sue criminals everywhere, Mr Amara said.
As for the commerce and civil agreements, they aims at boosting bilateral cooperation in the domain of commerce and investment, as they endorse investors with judicial guarantees to protect their funds and assets, he added.
The third judicial agreement extends the scope of cooperation between Bosnia and Algeria in the domain of countering trans-border crime, including in terms of research and investigation, the official indicated.
The extradition agreement aims at “providing efficient judicial protection to nationals of both countries,” as well as the consecration of the extradition of wanted people by justice in both countries, he stressed.
To recall, Bosnian Justice Minister Barisa Colak has arrived Monday to Algiers in an official three-day visit.
