Deadline fixed by Droudkel on hostages release to expire Friday

The deadline which was set by the Salafist Group of Preaching and Combat “GSPC” also known as Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb “AQIM” under the leadership of Abdelmalek Droudkel (Abou Mosab Abdelouadoud), will end Friday.

  • Droudkel said he will kill the two British hostages if the authorities will not respond to his demand for the release of the Palestinian “Abu Qatada”, who is detained in Long Martin detention in Britain, while the fate of the Swiss hostages still detained by the terrorist group was not yet determined.

  • Observers to the security matters in Algeria think that Droudkel will not implement his threats on the background that he already adopted the same approach when he abducted the Austrian tourists in order to put pressure on the governments to pay the ransom which remain the primary objective of the kidnapping on the basis of previous operations.
  •
  • The terrorist organization committed to silence since the issuance of the 26th April statement. Secret negotiations are unlikely being made with the kidnapers in order to release the British hostages, particularly since the British authorities said only that it will not be subjected to bargaining”.
  •
  • However, observers to security matters do not forget to talk about developments that resulted from the first message of the kind that was sent by “Amar Saifi” nicknamed “Abderezak Al Para” (Abou Heidara El Awrassi) assistant of Hassane of Hattab and former leader of the Fifth region.
  • In this letter, Al Para not only invited his fellows to stop the armed activity and join Hassan Hattab’s initiative, but he addressed “Hamadou Obaid” (Abdelhamid Abu Zeid), leader of “Tarek Ibn Ziad” battalion in the fifth region, and “Abdelhak Abu Khabab” (Mohamed Nakia), leader of El Ouadi region, because the two are direct responsible for the abductions in the Sahara.
  •
  • El Para considered the years he spent in prison a “positive fate.” “It allowed me weighing the pros and cons and concluding that armed attacks hurt a lot the Algerian people.”
  •
  • He also advised people who want to join the GSPC to stop thinking to do that. He warned them against fatwa on the Internet and CD-ROMs on misleading facts about Islam.
