Deportation Of 1,500 Illegal Immigrants To Niger

On Thursday, the Minister of Interior and Local Assemblies, Kamel Beldjoud, spoke of the deportation of 1,500 illegal immigrants as part of an agreement between Algeria and Niger.

Taking the floor during an open session in the National People’s Assembly, Mr. Beldjoud revealed that the number of illegal immigrants has recently decreased thanks to the efforts of the state, adding that the government has adopted a national strategy to  curtail the phenomenon of illegal immigration within the framework of international treaties in due respect for human rights.

The interior minister said that the higher authorities have deported many African nationals to their countries of origin, and ensured full conditions for the deportation of illegal immigrants through shelters and medical observation structures and enacted legislative measures to combat the phenomenon.
