“Diplomatic Messages” still continuing between Algiers and Rabat
President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has sent a message of congratulations to the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI on the occasion of the twin anniversary of his birthday and the Revolution of the King and the people, in which he stressed his keenness to enhance and bolster the ties of brotherhood and solidarity between the two fraternal peoples.
President Abdellaziz Bouteflika affirmed in his message: “I renew to you my warm congratulations, and I ask God Almighty to preserve your Majesty and all your family, and I assure you of my devotion to work with you to promote brotherly relations and the active solidarity between our two peoples, so as to achieve further well-being, progress and prosperity.
The head of state’s message added: “This historic event which is considered a landmark in the history of your country, and a decisive step in the process of emancipation and independence, invites us to evoke the meaning of struggle and resilience, which has long characterized the brotherly Moroccan people, and invites us to remember the lofty struggle of peoples to reclaim their sovereignty and national dignity.”
The President of the Republic also underscored Algeria’s commitment to the project of building the Arab Maghreb, in faithfulness to the noble values of justice, freedom, unity and common progress that has united the Maghrebian peoples during the struggle against the yoke of colonialism.
Despite the simmering tensions between Algiers and Rabat, Algeria still maintains its fraternal diplomatic messages which are conveyed regularly to the Moroccan side on each occasion.
Algeria has of late set three conditions for reopening the closed land borders between the two countries including “an immediate halt to the “smearing campaign waged by some ill-advised Moroccan circles” against Algeria.
