Disillusioned teachers go on strike again in Algeria

Estimates released by the “UNPEF” Union revealed that 90% of the teachers went on strike nationwide, while “CNAPSET” Union has indicated that the action was followed at a level of 70% .

  • This unexpected score is the result of the doldrums that prevails in the education sector which worsened the education sector personnel’s living conditions, according to the Unions.
  • Most of the teachers that talked to Echourok yesterday have vehemently lambasted the education ministry’s move to make public their revised salaries and the release of erroneous estimates as part of the bonuses’ increases.
  • As a consequence of this protest movement thousands of students were forced to miss classes for the umpteenth time and roam all day long in the streets.
  • For his part, the coordinator of the National Committee of High- school teachers Nouar Al Arbi, has revealed that the registered rate is due to the fact that the government didn’t convince the angry teachers.
