Djendjen-El Eulma Highway: “Italian Project Scam Exposed”

Yet another scandal has erupted in the achievement of motorway infrastructures, this time due to the paltry work carried out by an Italian Company.

At kilometer 19 of the road between Djendjen and El Eulma, a major structure risks collapsing due to a landslide.

According to the pictures in our possession, and the information gleaned here and there, that Italian company did not even wait for the results of geological data to begin its work.

Erosion has weakened the concrete posts that might destabilize this structure whose basement work began there just 10 days ago and a single shower might bring about its total collapse.

In addition, the project has recorded a huge delay in its achievement, because after three years, only 10% of the project has been carried through.

As a recall, the works of this project were launched in August 2013 by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and its delivery was to take place 36 months afterwards, but the former public works minister had surprised many by announcing an extension of the deadline by three years to complete the project.
