The family members of the girl Safia are waiting for the appeal court decision in the case that lasted 8 years, after the latest developments which reveal that the DNA analysis confirm the fatherhood of her Algerian parent, dismissing her French father allegations who refused to undergo these tests so far.

According to girl’s aunt, the DNA tests carried out last March 17 in a police laboratory here in Algiers showed a complete matching between the girl and her Algerian father, Youssef. M, while the French embassy in Algeria denied interfering to sway the French national Cherbouk Jacques Lyons to carry out the tests.

She went on saying that girl was registered in the French register office by Jaques Cherbouk and his sister illegally soon after her birth. For its part, the mother’s family called on all parties inside and outside the country to claim the Algerian citizenship of their daughter; turning to religious satellite channels to seek help.

The girl’s mother who died in 2005 was divorced from her Algerian husband in 2001 and moved to France while she was expecting a baby. She made a “white marriage” with Jacques in order to settle her administrative situation. The man seized the opportunity to claim Safia’s fatherhood who was born in the region of le VAR in 2001.
