The chairman of the Egyptian Football Federation Samir Zaher
Al Zamalek’s former goalkeeper Mohamed Abdelmouncif Wednesday said a group of activists will prepare a file to condemn the Egyptian Football Federation's chairman for being behind Egypt-Algeria football crisis.
- “We obtained very important documents and evidences which show that the Federation’s president Samir Zaher incited some Egyptian people to throw stones on the bus carrying the Algerian players,” Mohamed Abdelmouncil told Al Arabiya.Net.
- “We decided to notify the Egyptian Attorney General Abdelmadjid Mahmoud about this file to open an investigation. This issue was about to cause a political crisis between Egypt and Algeria,” he added.
- Samir Zaher denied those allegations, saying “those who are behind this campaign are envious of my success and achievements.”
- “I am not worried about this campaign because the issue is closed and the State’s officials know everything about it,” he added.
- “How do they accuse me of inciting people to attack the Algerian team’s bus while I am the Federation’s chairman? Someone paid those persons and I know who did that.”
- According to Wikileaks, Egyptian former president’s son Alae Mubarek became a national hero following the World Cup qualifying match between Egypt and Algeria. He made violent statements against Algeria and insulted its people.
- On the other hand, his brother Djamel delivered an enthusiastic and emotional speech about the football events. He wanted to recover his popularity as his previous speeches were ordinary, according to the same source.
