Draft law to compensate victims of nuclear tests before French parliament next June
The draft law on granting cash compensation for the victims of the French nuclear tests is expected to be transferred to the French parliament next June, after being referred to the council of French ministers, amid scathing criticism by the Polynesian parliament which asked for the working out of a new law to address the effects of the French nuclear tests on the environment as well.

The Polynesian parliament also demanded the right to compensation for the widows and families who were subjected to psychological damage and compensation for the children whose parents were directly exposed to nuclear radiation as well as involving associations of the victims in the compensation committee.

In return, many Libyan associations claim for deep studies on the effects of radiation on people and environment. Officials close to the Libyan authorities called for the need to intervene and protect the rights of the “Sahara meteorites” as cited by the “cry of the desert” website in a letter addressed to Aicha Muammar Al Gaddafi, daughter of the Libyan leader Muammar Al Guaddafi.
