Driving schools owners criticize ministry’s law

The ministry of transport is working on the preparation of a draft bill to regulate the driving schools the president of the National driving Schools Union, has declared to “Echorouk”.

  • Drastic provisions are included in this law including the one that forces people who feel the need to open a school to follow two years studies at the university and a five year probation period. M Aoudia Ahmed Zine Eddine criticized the draft bill saying that the latest is rather destines to open an education institution.
  • He went on saying that his Union declines the law because it harms the profession and the professional alike expressing his astonishment “This decision discourages those who want to open driving schools, because people who did two years at the university will rather be inclined to open a traditional school, he said”.
  • Other measures have been added to the previous law including rising the owners’ age to 27 years instead of 21 and 5 years probation period while it was 2 years in the past.
  • The ministry of transport decided to raise the number of driving lessons to reach the total of 55 hours causing irregularities in terms of fees, in the sense that the cost varies between 18 and 35 thousand Algerian Dinars.
  • M Aoudia noted that the relevant ministry has to consult the professionals and has to set a special committee comprising police and gendarmerie services along with representatives from the ministry of finance and transport I order to issue a law that satisfies all sides.
