Droudkel, Algeria government enter into undeclared truce
National leader of the so-called the “Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat” (GSPC) Abdelmalek Droudkel nicknamed Abu Musab Abdelouadoud and Algerian security forces entered into an undeclared truce, a week ago, well-informed sources said.
-
-
“Droudkel showed his readiness along with many of his followers to give up definitively armed acts and join the Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation,”the same sources told Echorouk.
-
“But he called on Algerian authorities to fulfill his followers’ needs which will be submitted via a mediator in coordination with security forces.”
-
More than 60 GSPC elements including senior members are involved in the truce.
-
The mediator held meetings with a number of GSPC leading members and conveyed their commitments to not carry out any violent act and enter into an undeclared truce with security forces in return for stopping chasing them.
-
He brought forms of all the terrorists’ names who are planning to surrender.
-
He also conveyed Droudkel’s requirements in return for their decision to be submitted to the authorities concerned.
-
According to the same source, Droudkel’ decision came after a call from many Muslim preachers on terrorists to surrender.
-
He was touched by those calls and started changing his mind about his extremist positions in terms of religion about killing innocents.
