Echorouk honours in Paris illustrious Algerian writer Tahar Ouattar
Tahar Ouattar honored in Paris by Echorouk.
In a unique initiative of its kind, reporters of the newspaper Echorouk Al Yaoumi traveled recently to Paris with a view to honoring famous Algerian writer Tahar Ouattar who is currently in France to undergo medical treatment.
-
During this encounter full of emotion and nostalgia, Tahar Ouattar, very moved, was handed over by the newspaper “Echorouk” a recognition and consideration trophy for his remarkable literary work which has been hailed in the four corners of the world.
-
Given his paltry health condition, Tahar Ouattar is now living in a small flat in the Paris suburbs where he has the necessary amenities provided by the owner of the apartment in return for a reasonable rent.
-
This allows him to follow his medical treatment without any major hindrance in comparison with the recent past where he used to live in a hotel room where conditions were rather difficult.
-
After a long and minute search in the streets of the Paris suburbs, our reporters succeeded in finding Tahar Ouattar’s current place of residence.
-
We had an appointment with him at 11h. a.m. On our arrival, Tahar Ouattar welcomed us with open arms and expressed his joy at the interest and consideration shown to him by the newspaper Echorouk despite the fact that he is in a “medical” exile far from Algeria.
-
During this historic encounter, Tahar Ouattar was surrounded by two of his closest friends namely his French publisher, Françis Kamb and renowned writer Salah Kataf
-
as well as by his brother’s son Rafik and some members of the reception family who provided him with the small apartment where he is living.
-
Emotion reached its climax when the advisor to the General Manager of Echorouk, Ali Draâ, graciously handed a trophy of recognition and consideration as well a high-grade burnous to Tahar Ouattar for his precious contribution to the promotion of Algerian literature through a rich, prolific and imperishable literary work.
-
Françis Kameb, French publisher and poet:
-
“Tahar Ouattar is the writer of the Maghreb who has the largest readership in France and his books are highly appreciated by many people in various parts of the world.
-
Ali Draâ, Advisor to the General Manager of the newspaper Echorouk:
-
“Anyone who doesn’t respect Tahar Ouattar, has no respect for the given word, no respect for freedom of expression and no respect for democracy”.
-
“The newspaper Echorouk has an immense respect for intellectuals in general and for Tahar Ouattar in particular.
-
This illustrious writer has succeeded in his most remarkable literary work in defending and upgrading the Algerian personality and the human values”, Ali Draâ explained.
-
His highly meritorious literary work has had a telling impact across the world, he added.
