Economist Intelligence report that was published on the British Telegraph website, which is based on tolerance, the level of crime and the threats, exposure to clashes, the level of medical services, control, temperature, transport and easy access to schools in the community, classified Algiers in fifth place in terms of the least liveable cities in the world, after capitals of Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Iran, Libya, and Pakistan.

Same report stated that the ranking of the capital of Algeria in this ranking was based on the decline in the level of education and government services, high unemployment and corruption, and because this city – according to the study – is the fourth in terms of traffic accidents in the world and ranks first in the Arab world.

Algiers ranking in the report, which contained a recent study for 2016-2017, triggered a wave of indignation and protest across the social networks especially “Facebook”, where Algerians considered it an understatement that is not justified from for the capital Algiers, at the time when cities which are living the war are ranked as most liveable then Algiers.

Algerians said that the report is targeting of the country in light of the deteriorating situation in many cities in the world due to the security crises, while Algeria is living in calm and stability.

For example the city of Dakar in Bangladesh ranks in first place as the least liveable in the world, and this because of what they considered the environmental pollution and rising crime, bureaucracy and natural disasters, noting that the study ranked the ten cities according to five criteria: health conditions, security stability, cultural entertainment, environment, education and the field of transport and infrastructure.
