Economists call for the creation housing banks to overhaul the sector

Numerous economists have called for global strategy likely to regulate the building and public works sectors in a bid to overturn the latent crisis and thrust a fresh momentum so as to contribute to country’s economic recovery.

• This strategy consists in involving several sectors of activities like building, finance, energy and environment ones, because they were complementary and intertwined.

• Talking on the sidelines of the international fair of building and public works held here in Algiers, M Rachid Metref has indicated that the problems which impede the development of public works products consist in the absence of specialized banks in the sector.

• He has revealed that the banks operating in the sector are trying to cope with the latest developments occurring on the market despite the fast changing pace witnessed both at the local and international markets.

• For his part, the economic expert Abdelkrim Boudraa has called on the government to encourage the local industry to reduce the imports’ bill including the workforce.

•  

• To recall the Algerian market registers a deficit estimated at nearly 300 thousand workers in the building sector.
