Education unions freeze their unlimited strike
Education sector’s non-affiliated trade unions have decided to freeze the unlimited strike which was to be started today.
- The trade unions decision has been taken after the Ministry of Education promised to deal positively with the teachers’ claims.
- In fact, the ministry has installed four commissions to examine different claims of the trade unions, including the teacher status, compensation system, housing and retirement. The outcome of the 4 commissions work will be submitted today to the Minister of Education, who is, in turn, to transfer it to the government and public service department.
- Furthermore, the Ministry of Education pledged to issue a new decision, before current 30 April, on how the funds of social services should be managed. To recall, non-affiliated trade unions rejected that the Central Trade Union (UGTA) to manage the funds.
