Egypt airport police undress Bouteflika’s representative

Egyptian authorities last Sunday searched member of the FLN’s central committee in charge of independent candidate Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s electoral campaign in the International Airport of Cairo, Echorouk has learnt.

Yahia Hassani was accused of counterfeiting the Egyptian visa and was undressed by the airport police.

Diplomats told Echorouk Hassani called the Algerian foreign minister Ramtane Lamamra to intervene. The Algerian ambassador went to the airport and explained to the Egyptian police that Hassani is a leading member in the FLN. He was released on that day.

Hassani went to Egypt on a three-day-visit as part of the electoral campaign. Yet, he held one single rally only in Cairo.
