Egyptian hackers at a loose end target the “chat forum” of Echorouk's website

Egyptian hackers launched on Tuesday night a cyber attack on the “chat forum” of the Algerian newspaper “Echorouk Al Yaoumi” which has now become a target for these malevolent hackers on account of its steadfast and unqualified support for the Algeria football squad in the qualifying race for the 2010 World cup and Africa cup of nations competitions.

  • The unwarranted hacking of Echorouk’s website touched off an open war between Egyptian and Algerian hackers across the Internet network.
  • Dismayed by the dismal performance of their national football squad during the World cup qualifiers with as a focal point Egypt’s scathing (3-1) setback versus Algeria last June in Blida, the embittered Egyptian hackers have ignited this war of nerves via the Internet with the glaring aim of exerting undue pressure on the Algerian Fennecs’ supporters in expectation of the next World cup qualifiers.
  • In a warning statement posted on the hacked website, the Egyptian hackers said that the cyber attack on the chat forum of Echorouk daily “was a telling example for all those who dared challenge the Egyptians”.
  • Despite this provocative warning, Algerian hackers immediately launched a counter-attack by hacking the websites of the Egyptian Presidency and the Egyptian newspaper “Al Ahram” causing major disruptions.
  • An Algerian hacker wrote on the front page of the hacked website of the Egyptian Presidency that “this devastating intrusion was a legitimate act of reprisal for the Egyptian hackers’ wanton attacks against the website of the Algerian newspaper Echorouk Al Yaoumi and the rights of my country, Algeria”.
