Elections Monitoring Commission:”EU Mission Report, a Deal between Power and Observers”
Head of the Elections Monitoring Committee, Mohamed Saddiki, criticised the report of the European mission of observers , wondering about the purpose of delaying the announcement of the report’s content, on the eve of the organization of the local elections.
Mohamed Saddiki told Echorouk, in a phone contact on Saturday; “According to the content of the report, all doubts by many observers are now confirmed about the purpose of the European observers’ mission presence in Algeria, as we can not rule out a deal between the Mission and power in Algeria, confirmed by the content of the report, which praised the results of the elections,in favour of the regime”.
“The European mission was supposed to monitoring the elections and take notes, and to cover up the “systematic fraud” which was attended by all Algerians. How can the EU wait 3 whole months to provide the same justification of the authority about the results that everyone in Algeria was certain that they are not real, like the point which said that the political parties “failed” to collection its seats due to the participation of 44 political parties and 185 independent lists, and the large number of candidates, which led to the dispersion of the votes, giving preference to the successful parties, especially the National Liberation Front”, he added.
“We thought that Algerians are the only concerned bout the recent elections, and not the European Union, but the manner of dealing with the latter for the electoral process suggests the opposit. The Authority is seeking through the contents of the European report to polish its image at the expense of its relations with its citizens, because the real systems derived their legitimacy from their citizens and not from deals with other countries. This is an insult to the people and the state’s institutions”.
