Electronic Residence Card For Foreigners In Algeria
Interior and Local Communities Ministry is preparing for the issuance of a new law on granting the electronic residence card to foreigners who are residing in Algeria, and get rid of those documents, which a large number of them considered as inappropriate.
According to sources that are linked to the file, this move aimed at regulating the process of counting foreign residents in Algeria accurately, and enabling the Algerian authorities to monitor every nook and cranny on the movement of the people who are received on its territory, whether they are tourists or who work in the institutions, especially in the absence of accurate figures about them.
The law that is being prepared will be ready for application within the next year at the latest, and also falls within the framework of the facilities, as the Interior and Local Groups Ministry is working to modernize administrations and adopt an electronic system, and a database for its citizens and even residents on its territory, to facilitate the control on their movement as well, especially since Algeria noticed a large influx of foreigners in the recent years, and due to security reasons and the bad conditions that is experienced by some neighbouring countries like Mali, Libya and even Syria.
As the work with the electronic card system will also enable the preventing of the forgery of residence cards, especially as it contains a SIM card that contains all the data of its holder.
Algeria committed the foreigners who are wishing to obtain a residence card to present themselves to the security services where the place of residence, a make a request on a special form that is pulled at the regional police in provinces or municipalities of residence, in addition to a copy of the passport under validity, and a visa for entry and extension if necessary, and a lease contract.
