England is not a ghost and Algeria can beat it, says Hearts defender Bouzid

Hearts defender Ismael Bouzid is still hoping that Algeria coach Rabeh Saadane calls him to join the team. “I am ready to play for my country once again. I have all my capacities as I played more than 30 official matches with Hearts,” he told Echorouk in an interview.

• Unfortunately, I did not play the previous matches of my club because of injury. I wish I played against my team mate Bouguerra in that match but we were both absent.

• What is your goal with your club this season?

• We aim at qualifying to the European League. I want to play the largest possible number of matches. Thanks to God, I played more than 30 matches and I think I have enough time to reach 37.

• Why are you out of the Algerian team?

• It is because of the injury. I used to participate regularly. National coach Saadane put my name in the list twice but I could not join the team because of the injury. I thank him for trusting me.

• How did you experience that?

• I was very disappointed. Now, I am thinking about the future. I watched Algeria’s matches and I was happy for the players’ performance in the last African Cup.

• Did you receive a call from the national coach or the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) about the possibility of playing for Algeria?

• No one called me about this issue but I am in touch with the rest of the players. They are good friends of mine.

• Are you still hoping to play for Algeria?

• Do you think I lost hope? I preferred to stay with Hearts to play for the national team. I participate regularly with my club. The World Cup is the biggest dream of any player. My dream is to join the Algerian team and I am waiting for that impatiently.

• The national coach is looking for defenders. Aren’t you one of them?

• I do not know. It is up to the coach to see. I am not stranger in the team. Coach Saadane knows my capacities and if he asks me to join the national team, I will be very happy. Otherwise, nothing will change my feelings. I will be the first fan as I was in the African Cup.

• Saadane is in a tour to search for distinguished players in Europe. What is your comment?

• I am a professional player and I can not interfere in the coach’s decisions. He knows the most what is missing in the team. I believe there are many talented player in France and out of it. It is nice that they are given that chance.

• Who are the players you think they can do something positive for the team?

• I can not answer this question. It is up to Saadane to do that.

• How was the team’s level in the match against Serbia?
•  
• We can not judge the players’ level in a preparatory match. We should be comprehensive. They was tired after they had finished with the African Cup and they were playing with their clubs. The most important thing is that it was not an official match. I trust their capacities in the World Cup.

• How can Algeria beat England?
•  
• I think England is not a ghost. Their way of playing will not be an obstacle for the Algerian team. I trust our players and I am sure they can cope with it. Do not be surprised if I tell you we can beat England by having a will power and resisting them physically. Technically speaking, I know that there are many players in the Algerian team who are better than those in England’s team.
