Eto'o to learn sanction on Friday for Cameroon strike

The Cameroonian Football Federation's (Fecafoot) disciplinary committee will announce Samuel Eto'o's sanction for his role as captain in a player's strike on Friday.

The strike followed a row over bonuses after a tournament in Morocco in November and led to the cancellation of a friendly against Algeria.

Fecafoot has dismissed reports he will get a seven-match ban as “speculation.”

Should he receive any punishment, Eto’o will then have 14 days to appeal.

If he were to get a lengthy ban, he could miss the Indomitable Lions’ opening games in qualifying for both the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and 2014 World Cup.

Vice-captain Enoh Eyong is also awaiting to hear the outcome of the disciplinary hearing held earlier this week.

Tottenam Hotspur defender Benoit Assou Ekotto could also face punishment after he failed to join up with the squad for the games in Morocco and Algeria.

Cameroon begin their campaign for the 2013 Nations Cup finals in South Africa against Guinea Bissau on 29 February and 17 June.

In between the Nations Cup games the Indomitable Lions start their quest to reach the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 with a match against DR Congo.
