EU association agreement: Algeria for a revision of tariff dismantling rate

ALGIERS- Algeria has submitted a request to the European Union (EU) for the revision of the rate for the dismantling of customs and tariff regulations relating to Algeria-EU association agreement, Trade Minister Mustapha Benbada disclosed Sunday.

The request mainly concerns the extending to 2020 of the total dismantle of the barriers, instead of 2017 as provided for in the agreement that came into effect early September 2005, Benbada told reporters on the sidelines of the presentation of the government’s general political statement before the Council of the Nations.

According to the minister, Algeria suggested to bring forward the progressive and final dismantling deadline from 2012, 2015 and 2017 to respectively 2015, 2017 and 2020.
