Exclusive: I was tortured in Guantanamo, Al- Jazeera TV channel cameraman Sami El Hadj tells Echorouk

Dr. Fawzi Oussedik, President of the International Committee to defend Sami Elhadj, a free man today, after having been imprisoned by the US military for more than six years revealed to Echorouk important facts and figures about what is happening inside Guantanamo detention as well as methods of torture and interrogation.

• Sami Elhadj narrated many facts to Fawzi Ousseddik about Algerian detainees’ life in Guantanamo and their feelings towards their homeland Algeria, in an exclusive interview with Echorouk.

• Fawzi Ousseddik said that Sami Elhadj told him about his meeting with 24 Algerian detainees in Guantanamo. Yet, his relationship with them did not exceed conversation because they were separated and could not communicate with each others.
• Sami Elhadj confirmed that he saw an Algerian who lost his mind when he was with a Yemeni prisoner “Aymane Baterfi”, who lost his mind in Guantanamo as well.
• Guantanamo detainees under consultants and psychologists mercy
• Fawzi Oussedik indicated that successive confessions of prisoners, who were released from Guantanamo, and international reports on it, show that consultants and psychologists are the managers there. Soldiers who are torturing the detainees had been trained in psychological warfare techniques for that reason.

• Fawzi Oussedik also said that Sami Elhajd suffered from many diseases and health crises inside prison. Because of that, their effects remain visible even after his release from jail. Now, he needs an urgent knee surgery.
