Former Algerian Star Soccer Rabeh Madjer

Former Algerian football player, Rabah Madjer, decided to reveal many things which have occurred in the last decade through an exclusive interview with Echorouk newspaper, beginning by reason of his departure from the Algerian football team to the latest developments about the contract which linked him with Aljazeera Sport.

  • *Is your presence in Algeria due to the latest developments of the Algerian Football team ,which might lose its coach Rabah Saadane, after the match with Liberia on the next October?
  •  
  • -“No, it has nothing to do with my presence in Algeria; I’m here in my Houcine Day district to spend the annual holidays”.
  •  
  • *But lot of people expected to see you in Beijing to analyse football matches?
  •  
  • -“Aljazeera Sport channel crew did not move to Beijing, and this is the Qatari channel administration’s decision, so I decided to take a rest in my country”.  
  •  
  • *When will you return back to Aljazeera channel studios?
  •  
  • -“I will be there on the 28th of September”.
  •  
  • *Do you have any contacts with other channels or football teams?
  •  
  • -“I have a lot of contacts to work in training or analysis in Saudi and UAE, but I refused them, because I respect my contract with Aljazeera Sports”.

  • *But you were to abandon your work there to join the Algerian football team, what happened?
  •  
  • -“Haddaj called me and I met with the minister of youth and sports, Elhachemi Jaiar, and we discussed everything”.

  • *What happened next?
  •  
  • -“At the beginning I agreed to work with him on a long-term, to prepare a competitive team by 2012, empowering only on Algerian players plus one or two professionals, and I agreed to play African cup and he accepted, but after that president of the FAF called me and we met in his office to tell me that it is very important, and told me to prepare the team “B” to play the qualifiers and achieve positive results in the finals, but I refused and decided to finish negotiations”.

  • *You said that you accepted supervision on the local team despite all what happened to you with the first team, what is the reason behind this situation?
  •  
  • -“I felt great seriousness in the minister’s talk and the president of the FAF as well, which prompted me to accept the task of overseeing the local team, and I realized that I was able to succeed and restore the Algerian football prestige”.

  • *Are you ready to return back training the national team “A”, especially if Sadane decided to withdraw directly after the Match with Liberia?
  •  
  • -“Yes I am ready to do that, but under some conditions”.
  •  
  • *What are they?
  •  
  • -“I am ready to lead the greens if I had enough support which would help me establish a serious projects and objectives, what will allow the composition of a strong team for a long run, containing local players and some professionals”.

  • *Do you think Algerian team is capable of reaching the African and World Cup finals 2010?
  •  
  • -“We were able to win over the first game against Senegal, because of some players’ defeatist mentality, who did not accept the conditions in Africa”.
  •  
  • *Do you want to return back to the Algerian team, despite all what happened?
  •  
  • -“ I realized lately that there is a big difference between Raouraoua and Haddadj, because Haddadj wants really to win and re-spirit the Algerian ailing Football”.
  •  
  • *Is it true that the Algerian president Bouteflika asked you to return as Algerian football team coach?
  •  
  • -“No, it is not true, but I have good relationships with officials, and the proof I was received by the minister Jaiar”.
  •  
  • *To finish we want to know your opinion about the national championship, and about Hadj Issa and Hallich?
  •  
  • -“ Algerian national championship is modest, because it is no longer forming professionals, as for Hadj Issa, he is a very good soccer who can become professional, and Halich he has well done when he signed the contract with Benfika, and I said good things about him with the Portuguese press, which called me and asked me about him weeks ago to sign a contract with him”.
