Experts: France exhausted the cover of intervention in Mali by defeating armed groups

Politicians, human rights activists and academics read the French authorities’ decision to maintain thousands of soldiers in Mali, astep on the road to the demarcation of colonization of this country, and called on the United Nations to intervene to end the French presence and replace it by a UN peacekeeping force, as is the case in many countries.

Former Malian Minister of Justice, Sheikh Diabaté, and President of the Supreme  Islamic Council in Mali, Mahmoud Dicko, and advisor to the Presidency of the Republic in charge of security affairs, Kamal Rezzak Bara, and Mohand Barkouk, a researcher in strategic affairs, in the radio program “angles of events” which is broadcast by channel One of the national radio.

French President Francois Hollande, has said that his country will reduce the number of its troops in Mali to 2000 soldiers by next July, then to 1000 soldiers by the end of the year, out of the total 4000 soldiers, who were sent to Mali at the beginning of this year, to fight armed groups which seized control of the north, after the fall of the regime of the ousted President, Hamadou Toumani Toure.

Speakers agreed at the radio program, that France initiated in the processing of two air bases in Mali, is an option to remain longer in this former colony, at a time the war against the armed groups is ending its last days, after the military alliance that supports Mali Army was able to defeate these groups in all the northern cities that came under its grip earlier.

Kamal Rezzak Bara said; ”The cover that the French armed troops used to intervene in Mali, which is destroying the infrastructure of the terrorist groups which controlled the northern cities of Mali, was realised, and thus Paris now has only to withdraw its troops, otherwise the matter will be understood as there are other intentions for the continuation of the survival of the French army in this country. The United Nations should take the mission and sned a mission to keep peace in the region”.

Former Malian Minister, Sheikh Diabati, called upon the international group to be ready for stoping war in Mali, and bring the peaceful negociatiable solution, and this will be realised if the UN will use its power to achieve this goal, which Algeria supported strongly, a position that the head of the Islamic supreme council in Mali, Mohamed Deco praised and described as a position of honor and generosity.

For his part, Director of the Graduate School of Political Science at the University of Algiers, Mohand Barkouk, said that the real intentions of France in Mali, was unveiled by its foreign minister, Laurent Fabius, when he emphasized that thousands of French troops will remain in Mali for a long time, pointing out that such a decision,”falls within the framework of the French strategy to strengthen its presence in its former African colonies, including Mali, after it felt that it has a weak grip in the region due to the emergence of superpowers in the region, as well as the waning influence of Paris in Europe and the Mediterranean.”
”The current French strategy in Mali, stems from the golden rule that  was laid down by the French general, Charles de Gaulle, in the Second World War, to the effect that “France can not be strong ,only by maintaining the extension in Africa.”
